About The Position
Comprehensive Language Access Solutions, LLC (CLAS) is a small, minority-owned business located in Northern Virginia that specializes in providing in-person spoken language interpretation services in healthcare settings. We have identified an urgent need for additional Medical Interpreters in our area and are actively hiring trained or willing-to-be-trained multilingual medical interpreters. As a medical interpreter, your primary role will be to facilitate accurate communication between healthcare providers and patients who have limited English proficiency. This position is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the best possible care by bridging the language gap in various healthcare environments, including hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare-related facilities. The types of appointments you may be involved in include cardiology, oncology, pediatrics, physical therapy, diagnostics, and examinations. We are looking for professional and motivated interpreters to join our team as Independent Contractors. This role allows for flexibility in terms of time and location, as you will have the autonomy to set your own schedule based on your availability and the geographic location of each assignment. Your contributions will directly support our mission to deliver superior quality language access services to those in our community who are of Limited English Proficiency, as well as to our healthcare providers. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate fluency in both English and your target language(s), along with a solid understanding of medical terminology. You will be expected to complete a minimum of 40 hours of medical interpreting training, which includes a language proficiency assessment. Additionally, you must have reliable transportation to travel to various locations and appointments, and you must adhere to a professional Code of Ethics while demonstrating empathetic and respectful behavior in accordance with healthcare standards.
