This is a full-time position and the schedule will be determined upon hire. The role involves providing accurate oral interpretations for spoken languages for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients, their families, and Corewell Health employees in-person, over-the-phone, and via videoconferencing throughout the hospital and clinics. The essential functions include interpreting source target language in various health care settings, such as surgical and medical procedures, transplant teaching, discharge instructions, consent forms, and hospital policies. The interpreter must provide services in accordance with Corewell Health policies and the National Council on Interpreters In Health Care (NCIHC) Code of Ethics. Responsibilities also include maintaining an assignment log, assisting with the onboarding process of new staff, dispatching interpreter requests during weekends and off hours, and keeping certification current through continuing education.
