About The Position

To fulfill the mission of Legacy Christian Academy through the development, supervision, and administration of Spanish Immersion (SI) that meets the individual needs and goals of each student within a Biblical Worldview. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. With respect to Spanish Immersion Faculty and Staff, the SI Coordinator will: · Recruit, evaluate, train, and observe faculty and staff in the SI program in coordination with divisional leadership. · Support new teachers in the program as well as create and supervise growth plans for poor performing teachers. · Make recommendations and work with the divisional principals and Associate Head of School regarding hiring, discipline, or termination of faculty and staff who serve in the SI program. · Onboard new teachers. · Monitor, recommend, and assist with professional development opportunities as well as coordinate SI staff working through the three year required addalingua training. · Manage and grow the SI substitute pool. Serve as an emergency substitute if needed. · Ensure mission alignment of SI staff. With respect to addalingua, the SI Coordinator will: Serve as the liaison for LCA in coordinating with our program partner addalingua. Assist our school with being an endorsed program of addalingua. Manage the budget and program costs/services ties with addalingua and our SI program. Coordinate partnerships with other immersion programs. With respect to the Curriculum and Instruction team, the SI Coordinator will: Partner with the Senior Director of Curriculum and Instruction to coordinate and align SI curriculum in relationship to the English curriculum. Assist with curriculum development as a grade is added each year. Help with developing and resourcing plans to translate curriculum if none is available in Spanish. Work with the Director of Libraries to ensure there is a proportionate and appropriate selection of books for both the classrooms and library to support high literacy development and achievement. Create a vertical curriculum and instruction plan for K-12 for SI and communicate it to stakeholders. Ensure mission alignment of curriculum and instructional resources. With respect to Admission and Marketing, the SI Coordinator will: Recruit students and families to the program by developing an external and internal marketing program for our community. Conduct parent tours, interest meetings, and lead the admissions interviews for prospective students and families, ensuring each family is a mission and program fit. Develop a marketing plan and provide support resources for marketing accomplishments, value, and uniqueness of our SI program to prospective families, current families, and the larger community. Develop a SI marketing plan to increase public awareness and interest in our program. Regularly post to social media in coordination with our Marketing Department, videos and pictures to represent the excellence of our program. With respect to supporting SI students, the SI Coordinator will : Advocate with parents and students for the SI program In coordination with LLC (Legacy Learning Center) and AARK (Advanced Academic Resources for Knowledge), work to ensure students needs are evaluated In coordination with LLC, develop a plan for meeting the long term needs of growing SI program. Teach within the SI program in Spanish or English as needed With respect to division principals and AHOS, the SI Coordinator will: Maintain communication with all divisional principals Attend divisional academic leadership meetings Work in conjunction with divisional principal to provide a program for K-12 SI students that is aligned with English students Assist the LS principal with administrative responsibilities as needed Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the LS principal Assist with strategic leadership and help plan for the expansion of the program and resource allocation. Offer strategic guidance on how to build and design a program for sustainability and excellence Report to and be supervised by the LS principal

Requirements

  • Native Spanish speaking, must hold a BA or BS degree from an accredited postsecondary institution and have three or more year’s related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral expression; ability to relate effectively with trustees, school personnel, parents, students, and other school constituent groups and individuals
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of students and staff.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of school management software; and basic office software.
  • Acknowledge Christ as Savior and support the school’s Statement of Faith and Philosophy Statement; be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions towards others. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40).
  • Possess evidence of competence in area of instruction, or other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator;
  • Have a working knowledge of and follow LCA’s Employee Handbook, Parent & Student Handbook.
  • Sign and live by the school’s Lifestyle Statement and Moral Integrity Statement as a condition for employment and continued employment in this ministry;
  • Maintain confidentiality in the operation of the classroom and the school;
  • Refrain from unwholesome talk, including profanity, slang (language widely used and accepted, but not appropriate for godliness) or jokes that may be offensive;
  • Place his/her school ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities; and
  • Maintain a personal appearance that model’s cleanliness, modesty, and good taste consistent with school policy.
