About The Position

Seeking a passionate and dedicated educator with strong technology skills to teach Adult Education Spanish GED Language Arts (reading/writing) classes that prepare students to pass the Spanish GED Language Arts, Social Studies, and/or Science tests and transition to college and/or career. Design and implement educational activities using a variety of teaching strategies to help students achieve their goals. Instructors are responsible for providing a classroom environment that is equitable and inclusive as well as implementing instruction that considers a variety of learning styles, facilitates active learning, and offers strategies for successfully passing standardized exams.

Requirements

  • Understanding of and commitment to working with populations that often fall within the opportunity gap, thus requiring more intentional and comprehensive support.
  • Bachelor's Degree in education, language arts, history, science or related field (Master's preferred).
  • At least 1 year of experience teaching high school equivalency and/or Spanish GED.
  • Ability to teach in person at the Des Plaines or Skokie campus.
  • Strong digital and technology skills, including experience teaching online.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English and Spanish.
  • Working knowledge of Adult Education standards, pathways, and assessments.
  • Morning and/or evening availability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and engaging Spanish GED language arts, social studies, and/or science instruction in person at the Des Plaines or Skokie campus.
  • Adapt and differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with students, contacting them as needed with the intent to promote persistence and retention.
  • Utilize online learning platforms and digital tools to enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Comply with departmental and state curricula, grading standards, attendance policies, textbook choices, assessments, and other established processes.
  • Monitor student progress, report outcomes, and refer students to support services.
  • Comply with all legal and ethical obligations including FERPA, ADA, and other regulatory legislations.

Benefits

  • Pay rate: $35 per hour (additional pay possible for those with Adult Ed certifications)
