About The Position

The Spanish Analytical Linguist at KACE is responsible for performing real-time transcriptions of sensitive material from Spanish to English, analyzing colloquialisms and slang, and communicating critical information to law enforcement. This role requires proficiency in transcription and translation, as well as the ability to operate specialized software and maintain productivity logs. The position is essential to federal operations, requiring availability for nights, weekends, and holidays, with no telework options available.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years' experience in a professional setting OR Associate degree AND five (5) years' experience in a professional setting OR a High School Diploma AND seven (7) years of experience.
• Minimum of one (1) year of transcription experience in the required language.
• Knowledge of source language colloquial terms and expressions.
• Knowledgeable in SMS language, social media, and Webchat.
• Demonstrates excellent verbal and written skills in the target language, including correct and accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Must be able to meet contract requirement of a score of 3 or better on a third-party Language Assessment (Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing) in English.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with management and law enforcement personnel.
• Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with specialized transcription software.
• Familiarity with law enforcement terminology and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Listen to oral and written intercepts or pre-recorded communications in Spanish and provide verbal and written synopsis and transcriptions as applicable per project.
• Relate all pertinent information to the Client when supporting a live project.
• Contribute to a master-list of slang words and codes used by a particular group/organization for the duration of the project/case.
• Maintain a voice library for the duration of the project.
• Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents as assigned by the supervisor.
• Produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls, chats, and documents, following the required format.
• Use various reference tools created during the project.
• Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of recorded conversation in an 8-hour day.
• Operate specialized software equipment provided by the government, including JSI voice box, Pen-link, Comverse, and other communication collection equipment.
• Maintain a daily log of productivity.
