About The Position

The Substance Abuse Counselor at New Season Treatment Centers plays a crucial role in providing care and support to individuals dealing with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). This position involves working directly with patients to facilitate their treatment journey, ensuring they receive the necessary counseling and support to regain control of their lives. The counselor is responsible for conducting intakes, documenting patient progress, and developing individualized treatment plans while adhering to regulatory compliance and best practices in patient care.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 500 hours of experience in substance abuse is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and demonstrate reliability.
  • Basic mathematics skills are necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the substance abuse field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all intakes, admissions, discharges, and transfer paperwork for patients.
  • Document patient progress through counseling and group interactions.
  • Complete patient psychosocial assessments and individualized treatment plans within required time frames.
  • Identify clinical/case management needs and address them accordingly.
  • Perform individual, group, and family counseling as required.
  • Conduct direct one-on-one patient contact through individual or group counseling sessions.
  • Report patient abuse, neglect, and exploitation as required.
  • Report patient grievances as necessary.
  • Educate patients on treatment aspects, health issues, and recovery steps.
  • Obtain Urine Drug Screens and initial patient photo identification.
  • Monitor all patient activities on center premises.
  • Participate in community relations activities as directed.
  • Ensure understanding of the Policy and Procedures Manual and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Maintain proper licensure and/or certification according to state requirements.
  • Participate in preparation for surveys and inspections by relevant agencies.
  • Attend all staff meetings and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
