About The Position

The Staff Nurse in Labor & Delivery provides comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families, ensuring high-quality service and adherence to legal and regulatory guidelines. This role involves delegating tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing assistive personnel, serving as a resource nurse, and taking charge of patient care as needed. The nurse is responsible for administering medications, teaching nursing tasks, and maintaining clinical expertise while embodying the values of Kaiser Permanente.

Requirements

• Minimum one (1) year experience in labor & delivery.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 12 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within 12 months of hire.
• Complete AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certificate within 12 months of hire.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in adaptability, decision making, customer service, teamwork, and communication.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with electronic medical records.
• Coursework in basic EKG.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and services to patients and families.
• Delegate nursing tasks to nursing assistive personnel and provide direction to LPNs.
• Utilize nursing processes to deliver care effectively.
• Administer medications and perform nursing tasks requiring knowledge and judgment.
• Teach LPNs and nursing assistive personnel special nursing tasks.
• Verify staff competency for special nursing tasks.
• Function as the primary nurse and total patient caregiver.
• Serve as a resource nurse and act as a preceptor.
• Perform administrative duties and accept responsibilities as assigned.
