About The Position

Requirements

• Master's degree in special education or related field.
• Full approval in at least one area of special education.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Full or Temporary approval as a Special Education Supervisor as required by Rule 340.1772.
• Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds and maintain a physical presence at the job site.
• Regular and reliable job attendance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in special education administration or supervision.
• Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
• Familiarity with Michigan State Performance Plan indicators.

Responsibilities

• Respond to district principals and parents regarding special education inquiries.
• Support local district administrators and teachers in problem-solving situations related to special education.
• Assist SJCISD staff members in local districts where the supervisor is assigned.

• Develop strong professional relationships with therapists and community agency staff.
• Guide the implementation of programs and services in accordance with state and federal law.
• Provide technical assistance regarding special education processes and reports.
• Lead the identification and hiring process for new staff members in departments/programs.
• Assist in data collection and analysis for ISD teams and districts.
• Engage in continuous learning of best practices in education.
