About The Position

The Special Education Paraprofessional (K-6) position at American Leadership Academy is a part-time role focused on supporting students with disabilities in grades K-6 for the 2024-2025 academic year. The paraprofessional will work closely with teachers to modify instruction, provide one-on-one assistance, and help students with self-care tasks, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Requirements

• Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• CPR/First Aid Certification
• Completed at least 60 credit hours of study at an institution of higher education OR obtained an associate's degree or higher OR a passing score on the AZ Dept. of Education Paraprofessional assessment

Nice To Haves

• Experience and/or coursework in teaching reading or math
• 1 year of experience in special education
• 1 year of experience in childcare

Responsibilities

• Modifying or adapting instruction for students with disabilities
• Working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher
• Providing one-on-one assistance to students with disabilities
• Guiding independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work with students as set up and assigned by the teacher
• Assisting students with self-care tasks as necessary
