The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing shop and field repairs, including customer repairs, rental repairs, and sales pre-delivery inspections. This role involves coaching and mentoring personnel in the Service Department, ensuring high-quality repair and delivery of equipment, and managing Service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Service Manager also collaborates with various teams to support business development and maintain operational efficiency.

  • Oversee shop and field repairs including customer and rental repairs.
  • Coach and mentor Service Department personnel for knowledge sharing and personal growth.
  • Support Business Development Managers and Sales Teams in providing excellent customer service.
  • Manage service jobs from assignment to completion, including dispatching Field Service Technicians.
  • Review monthly income statements and investigate variances against KPIs.
  • Ensure technician productivity meets the annual goal of 85%.
  • Monitor Effective Billing rate and Work in Process to meet financial targets.
  • Lead daily morning meetings to discuss sales units and shop updates.
  • Assist in new employee interviews and coach current personnel.
  • Perform weekly safety walks and maintain safety compliance in the shop.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 2-year vocational education certificate or equivalent knowledge preferred.
  • 48-60 months of related experience or Master Technician Certification preferred.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Advanced customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management experience and understanding of continuous process improvement.
  • Mastery of power and air tools, as well as calibrated tool usage.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a supervisory role within a service department.
  • Knowledge of repair procedures and safety concepts.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
