About The Position

The Security Officer - Dispatcher at the University of Miami is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all individuals on the UHealth Campus. This role involves monitoring incoming calls, dispatching officers to various incidents, and engaging in loss and crime prevention activities. The officer will also respond to emergencies, provide excellent customer service, and maintain communication with supervisors while working independently.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid State of Florida driver's license.
• Excellent customer service skills to handle personnel, patients, and visitors.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure.
• Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure environment for students, staff, customers, and visitors.
• Monitor incoming calls from all campus buildings and dispatch officers as needed.
• Engage in loss and crime prevention activities to protect University assets.
• Respond to emergency calls and assist with disasters.
• Complete reports and incident documentation as necessary.
• Maintain daily shift logs and communicate effectively with supervisors and officers.
• Monitor security breaches and respond to building alarm signals.
• Escort unauthorized individuals from the premises or notify police as necessary.
