About The Position

The Safety and Training Manager at MV Transportation is responsible for overseeing the training and safety culture within the organization, ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations, and implementing safety programs. This role requires proactive management and collaboration with various departments to promote a consistent safety culture and ensure the safe provision of transit services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct successful experience in a safety and training capacity managing a transit property/operation.
  • Experience in PTASP, per OSHA and FTA requirements, as well as experience working with adult learners is preferred.
  • Experience working in transit, preferably urban public.
  • Previous passenger transportation experience in a similar environment preferred.
  • College Degree or five (5) + years of safety management experience.
  • Prefer CDS (Certified Director of Safety) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) Designation.
  • Knowledge of all applicable safety rules, regulations - FTA, FMCSA, and DOT.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively delegate tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the training, retraining, and safety culture for the operation.
  • Supervise the training and safety programs.
  • Implement the approved Transit Agency Safety Plan and Transit SSEPP for Agency.
  • Promote a safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Provide training programs that promote high-quality passenger and resident service.
  • Ensure knowledge, preparedness, and professionalism of all training and safety personnel.
  • Ensure all operators are current with training requirements of the company and contract.
  • Ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices are current and meet operational needs.
  • Manage safety technology tools and analyze trend data to prevent future safety incidents.
  • Oversee corporate safety incentives and programs, including assignment of Safety Points.
  • Work with corporate claims staff to handle liability and worker's compensation claims effectively.
  • Proactively manage employee injury claims to minimize lost time and light duty claims.
  • Ensure successful completion of all related audits conducted by corporate and client staff and regulatory agencies.
