About The Position

The Recreation Aid (Sports/Fitness) position at the JB-MDL Fitness Center involves supporting the day-to-day operations of the facility. The role includes ensuring authorized access to the fitness center, assisting patrons with equipment, and maintaining the facility's cleanliness and safety standards. The position requires effective communication with visitors and the ability to perform physical tasks related to fitness equipment and facility management.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Responsible experience in clerical, office, cash handling, or retail sales work.
• Ability to read, speak, and write English and communicate effectively with patrons.
• Current CPR or BLS certification and first aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a fitness or recreational environment.
• Knowledge of fitness equipment and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment.
• Greet visitors, answer telephones, and make reservations for classes or equipment use.
• Provide assistance and basic instruction to patrons on exercise machines and equipment.
• Issue sports equipment and complete required documentation for transactions.
• Inspect returned equipment for damage and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures of the facilities according to guidelines.
• Maintain and prepare Fitness Center facilities, grounds, and equipment for daily use and special functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
