The Quality Lab Technician position at General Mills in Cedar Rapids is responsible for conducting analytical and physical lab testing, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and supporting the quality assurance program. This role requires working the 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM and involves a variety of tasks including data entry, conducting audits, and training employees on quality subjects.

  • Conduct analytical and physical lab testing using HPLC, titrimeter, colorimeter, density, viscosity, etc.
  • Perform GMP and Process Audits in production and storage areas.
  • Enter data into various Quality System databases.
  • Report monthly summaries of Quality system functions.
  • Present training in Quality subjects to new and existing employees.
  • Review on-line HACCP and MCP log sheets for compliance with company policies.
  • Support Analytical and Quality Assurance program.
  • Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift hours (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM CST).
  • Highly motivated self-starter with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects while performing everyday tasks.
  • Strong commitment to Quality and Customer Service.
  • Previous lab or food safety/quality department experience.
  • Experience in a food plant in manufacturing, sanitation, or quality assurance.
  • Proven work record of attendance and performance.
  • Ability to learn and execute physical and chemical analyses.
  • Ability to compile, retrieve data, and report results on GMI standard data collection systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook.
