About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team, responsible for managing financial statements and accounting tasks for assigned properties. The role requires strong financial acumen and experience in property accounting, tax, and financial services, with a focus on accuracy and compliance in financial reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Previous experience in property accounting or related field (2 years minimum)
• Knowledge of tax laws related to property accounting
• Familiarity with double entry bookkeeping principles
• Proficiency in using accounting software like Yardi
• Understanding of financial services and private equity concepts
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Responsible for monthly financial statement preparation for assigned properties.
• Interpret and analyze financial reports on a monthly basis, including analysis and reconciliation of required balance sheet accounts.
• Preparation of accounting tasks, including bank reconciliations, management fee calculations, and journal entries.
• Reconcile bank statements on a monthly basis.
• Research and correct all reconciling items pertaining to the cash accounts.
• Review accounts payable for accuracy, coding, and approval.
• Assist Accounting Manager with special transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing of properties.
• Assist external auditors with year-end audits on select properties.
• Meet all internal and external client reporting deadlines.
• Prepare wires/transfers for monthly distributions, mortgage payments, etc.
• Assist operations team with Quarterly/Annual budget projections.
• Perform other duties as necessary.
