About The Position

The Patient Advocate for Substance Abuse at Enterhealth is responsible for supporting the collaborative care team and patients in a safe and professional environment conducive to recovery. This part-time role involves assisting patients with daily activities, ensuring safety, and maintaining compliance with policies and procedures as outlined by Enterhealth and the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or equivalent and/or Certified Nursing Assistant, or Some College.
  • 0-2 years of chemical dependency/mental health technician experience or education in crisis stabilization, chemical dependency, or mental illness.
  • Strong communication skills in both oral and written formats.
  • Flexibility and customer service orientation.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe and secure environment for the delivery of care.
  • Monitor environmental and campus safety and report concerns.
  • Ensure clients and facility are free of alcohol, drugs, and contraband through searches.
  • Complete required documentation and notify management of contraband.
  • Support clinical staff and maintain client contact, providing support during stress.
  • De-escalate situations as required.
  • Facilitate the treatment milieu to motivate clients towards recovery.
  • Monitor clients and ensure attendance at scheduled activities.
  • Communicate clinical information to the treatment team.
  • Complete assigned shift duties and responsibilities.
  • Interact with clients and families in an advocacy role.
  • Administer 'Lost & Found' items according to policy.
  • Document and report as required.
  • Answer telephones and use the paging system appropriately.
  • Accept assignments to various activities as needed.
  • Participate in emergency codes effectively.
  • Participate in team meetings and Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Safely transport clients as assigned.
  • Assist nursing personnel in lab specimen collection.
  • Monitor client attendance at community group sessions.
  • Conduct hourly rounds to monitor client whereabouts.
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as required.
  • Monitor client valuables and document possession.
  • Document client medical records accurately.
  • Conduct and monitor scheduled smoke breaks for clients.
  • Assist with client room changes and document any damages.
  • Monitor compliance and control of room keys assigned to clients.
  • Ensure cleanliness of common areas when housekeeping is not on duty.
  • Provide continuous client care, supervision, and role modeling.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in dress and attitude.
  • Support the mission and goals of Enterhealth.
  • Protect the organization's reputation by keeping information confidential.
  • Accept ownership for accomplishing new requests and adding value to job accomplishments.
  • Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.
