About The Position

The Piping Designer at NorthStar Energy Services is responsible for delivering piping design solutions for various energy projects. This role involves generating 3D piping models, preparing detailed drawings, and ensuring compliance with industry standards throughout the project lifecycle. The designer will collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to ensure successful project execution from concept to completion.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in piping design, particularly in the midstream or petrochemical sector.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering, or 7+ years of related design experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, CADWorx, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detailed knowledge of Codes and Standards, including ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with implementing Xref drawing files.
  • Capability to conduct independent research into project-related issues and products.

Responsibilities

  • Generate 3D piping models utilizing CADWorx plant 2018 or later version.
  • Generate equipment models utilizing CADWorx Equipment Isometric extraction in a 3D model environment.
  • Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, including input and interference reconciliation with other disciplines.
  • Interface with stress and pipe support engineers, construction, and suppliers during piping design preparation.
  • Prepare drawings and concept sketches to support construction work, change orders, and estimates.
  • Prepare and disseminate documentation records such as status reports and material requirement calculations to the piping lead.
  • Prepare orthographic drawings from 3D models that incorporate Industrial Standards.
  • Generate bill of materials (BOM's) from 3D models and assist the process team in compiling process deliverables.
  • Conduct independent QA/QC of drawing deliverables and verify structural layout meets project design intent.
  • Support Professional Engineers during the project design phase and coordinate project-specific piping/mechanical deliverables.
