About The Position

The Pipefitter position (levels I, II, III) at Prism Maritime involves performing skilled mechanical duties related to fitting piping systems on vessels. The role requires limited supervision and includes tasks such as burning/brazing, testing, and sketching piping systems. The Pipefitter will operate equipment for assembly and installation, conduct preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery, and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures. The position may also involve lifting/moving equipment and overseeing junior welders as needed.

Requirements

  • Level I: High School diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations; Apprenticeship or Welding trade school with six months practical experience or one year of practical relatable experience; Valid State Driver's License required.
  • Level II: High School diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations; Apprenticeship or applicable trade school with three years or four years practical related experience; Certificate documentation required for listed education; Fire watch certification; Valid State Driver's License required.
  • Level III: High School diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations; Apprenticeship or applicable trade school with six years practical experience or eight years related experience; Certificate documentation required for listed education; Fire watch certification; Valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SMAW and GTAW for tacking purposes of piping, hangers, brackets, and other items to support on-site installations.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
  • Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications.
  • Identify piping by class, schedule, size, and the systems in which they are used.
  • Layout, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping, piping systems, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Work with steam, water, air, fuel, lube oil, sea water, and various chemicals.
  • Develop specifications from general descriptions and draw sketches of parts or products to be fabricated.
  • Assemble piping using welding, brazing, soldering, threading, lock ringing, and bolting techniques.
  • Cut and bore holes in structures, decks, bulkheads, and walls using torches or power tools.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management.
