About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Centerpoint Medical Center is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care by performing various delegated basic patient care services. This role involves assisting nursing staff in providing care, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies. The PCT plays a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience through effective communication and evidence-based practices.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Patient Care Tech Training or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
  • No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
  • Obtains and records initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including vital signs and other patient data.
  • Assists with patient mobility, including turning, positioning, and ambulating patients.
  • Transfers patients to and from other units, departments, or entities and assists with discharges.
  • Demonstrates proper body mechanics during patient handling.
  • Assists in the collection of specimens for diagnostic tests and ensures timely transfer of specimens.
  • Helps patients with activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, and grooming.
  • Changes bed linens as needed and maintains a clean patient care environment.
  • Serves as Monitor/Telemetry Tech for the unit as needed.
  • Engages in evidence-based best practices to enhance the patient experience.
