Requirements

  • BA/BS degree with excellent academic credentials.
  • Paralegal certificate is a plus.
  • Proficient in Bluebook cite-checking and legal writing.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, writing, and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Research experience in a legal context.
  • Willingness to take responsibility for assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Minimum of 3 years solid paralegal experience, particularly in proofreading and Bluebook cite-checking.
  • Litigation experience in a law firm environment is preferred; FERC experience is a plus.
  • Management and training experience are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of briefs and pleadings, focusing on cite-checking and Bluebooking.
  • Monitor cases and agency filings for attorneys and clients, ensuring accuracy in documentation.
  • Prepare reports for attorneys and clients on industry trends, updates, and deadlines.
  • Manage multiple deadlines on competing projects effectively.
  • Coordinate workflows with multiple lawyers and employees to ensure smooth operations.
  • Actively listen to and report on regulatory commission meetings.
  • Respond to research requests promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain case document databases for easy access and organization.
  • Identify and assemble documents relevant to case issues as needed.
  • Participate in team discussions regarding case strategies and approaches.
  • Assist in discovery and trial preparation, providing necessary support to attorneys.
