About The Position

The Nursing Supervisor at HonorHealth is responsible for overseeing patient care and staff development in a fast-paced emergency room environment. This role involves supervising nursing staff, coordinating patient care, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. The Nursing Supervisor will also provide direct patient care as needed and collaborate with physicians to execute medical plans. The position emphasizes leadership, quality improvement, and fostering a positive work environment while aligning with the organization's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited NLN/CCNE institution.
  • Legally licensed to work as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona.
  • 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Certification in respective area of expertise within 1 year of hire or promotion date for magnet standards.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, assesses, plans, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates patient care and staff development.
  • Assumes responsibility for incorporating the organization's vision, values, mission, and critical goals into job performance.
  • Assists the Clinical Director in managing the unit's assigned staff and patient population.
  • Provides direct patient care according to the needs of the unit/program and collaborates with physicians in executing the medical plan of care.
  • Oversees staff to ensure adequate patient care, including hiring, onboarding, evaluating, managing performance, coaching, and developing employees.
  • Establishes or contributes to care plans, including administering medication and therapies, and consulting with healthcare clinicians.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and maintains financial integrity around the department budget.
  • Serves as a resource to staff, patients, families, and physicians to improve patient experience and clinical outcomes.
  • Teaches patients and families how to manage their illnesses or injuries and explains post-treatment care needs.
  • Facilitates inter/intra departmental collaboration and promotes problem solving.
  • Participates in policy revisions and committees applicable to the department.
  • Contributes to recruitment and retention of staff through positive role-modeling and education.
  • Coordinates educational and professional activities related to department/unit needs.
  • Regularly rounds with physicians, patients, or families to facilitate quality practice and improve patient experience.
  • Utilizes the nursing process and evidence-based practice to provide patient care and evaluate care plans.
  • Initiates and supports quality improvement initiatives and utilizes resources effectively.
  • Directs staff in the application of the nursing process and promotes independent functioning among employees.
