About The Position

The Journeyman Refrigeration Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing refrigeration, HVAC, and electrical systems in a retail environment. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The technician will also manage service calls and maintain accurate records of work performed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; vocational-technical program graduates preferred.
  • Minimum of five years recent experience in refrigeration service or maintenance work in building-related trades.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform duties with high accuracy to avoid mechanical breakdowns.
  • Ability to respond to requests promptly and maintain a neat uniform appearance.
  • Must be computer literate and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must possess an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
  • Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance and general record-keeping skills.
  • Customer service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs.

Responsibilities

  • Make daily mechanical checks on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases, and walk-ins.
  • Maintain all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS systems, electrical, and mechanical systems and make necessary repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, inspections, and maintain required documentation.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance work done by outside contractors and notify the Area Refrigeration Manager of any issues.
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems, document solutions, and recommend further action.
  • Maintain a high technical level in troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Manage communications for service calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current licenses, inspections, permits, and certificates to meet all state and local codes.
  • Operate EMS building controls and automation systems, fine-tuning operating parameters and adjusting set points and schedules.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as ordering materials, writing purchase orders, and data entry for work reports.
