The Inventory Control Clerk position at Albertsons Safeway is responsible for managing and coordinating inventory processes within the Supply Chain Department. This role involves scheduling physical inventories, preparing inventory recaps, developing control procedures, and resolving shrink issues. The clerk will also analyze inventory trends and maintain compliance with corporate guidelines, ensuring accurate record retention and effective communication with various departments.

  • Schedules and coordinates all physical inventories and cycle counts.
  • Prepares physical inventory recaps on a timely basis for distribution to management.
  • Reviews and develops inventory control procedures as appropriate.
  • Identifies and resolves all internal shrink problems.
  • Coordinates changes to the inventory for damage, spoilage, vendor returns, department changes, pack changes, and continuity returns with the Accounting Manager and accounting staff.
  • Reviews warehouse outs and inventory adjustments daily.
  • Analyzes inventory trends and monitors daily reports including inventory adjustments and movement reports.
  • Works with Procurement to resolve excess inventory problems and short-coded products.
  • Monitors store returns and salvage programs.
  • Maintains record retention program in compliance with corporate guidelines and policies.
  • Conducts quarterly audits of parts and supply inventories to ensure accuracy.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • General knowledge of applications and computer capabilities.
  • Experience using calculators and other office equipment with the ability to enter data accurately.
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and follow-through on projects.
  • Ability to work independently and make independent judgments.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills to generate, review, and analyze various reports.
  • Working knowledge and experience of the Supply Chain process, including picking and storage operations in dry grocery and perishable departments.
  • College degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • College coursework in critical thinking, analyzing, and interpreting financial data reports.
