About The Position

The Fire Life Safety Director is responsible for protecting life and property through the implementation of the building's fire safety plan. This includes managing the Fire Command Station, supervising fire safety teams, and acting as a liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies. The role requires excellent customer service skills and involves regular interaction with the public, clients, and staff.

Requirements

• F85 or F89 Certifications required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting.
• Ability to read and understand operating procedures and instructions.
• Must successfully complete a background investigation and a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test.
• Must maintain current active status of all required licenses.

Nice To Haves

• Intermediate computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites.
• Ability to handle both common and crisis situations calmly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Fire Command Station and supervise the fire brigade, floor wardens, and building evacuation supervisors.
• Ensure all life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional.
• Conduct fire alarm drills and maintain a written log of critiques to identify weaknesses in response time or life safety systems.
• Provide clear direction and assistance to visitors, guests, vendors, and employees during regular and emergency situations.
• Assist building security in verifying access badges/identification cards to prevent unauthorized access.
• Maintain surveillance and report any suspicious persons or packages.
• Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid as required.
