About The Position

The Farmers' Market Coordinator plays a crucial role in assisting the Farmers' Market Manager with the operations and marketing of the Overland Park Farmers' Market. This position involves planning, developing, and implementing various programs and strategies to ensure the market operates smoothly, safely, and in compliance with all relevant laws. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, managing vendors and volunteers, and engaging with the community to promote the market's offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Parks & Recreation, Public Administration, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Public Affairs, Culinary, Agriculture, Nutrition Science, Marketing, Business or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification must be completed within one year of hire.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record required.
  • First Aid and CPR certification must be completed within one year of hire.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in operations, events, agriculture, culinary, or similar fields.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Two years of marketing, advertising, or social media experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Farmers' Market Manager with all facets of the Farmers' Market operations and marketing plan.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and administer internal and external operations, marketing campaigns, and community outreach.
  • Direct and manage day-to-day operations of the Farmers' Market, including vendor and volunteer coordination.
  • Create and implement training programs for market operations.
  • Manage the Double Up Food Bucks and token program, including related reports and supplies.
  • Oversee special events, entertainment, and community engagement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with city, county, state, and federal laws regarding market operations and food safety.
  • Conduct farm and food inspections to ensure vendor compliance.
  • Collaborate with city staff to execute operational strategies and content.
  • Prepare reports on staffing, revenue, and expenditures.
