The assembler will also be responsible for minor bending and straightening operations, as well as directing and instructing helpers in their tasks.

  • Perform routine fabrication and assembly operations on metal and non-metallic parts.
  • Follow prescribed procedures, drawings, operation sheets, and other instructions to assemble components.
  • Fabricate small detail parts and perform routine layout work as necessary.
  • Drill, grind, trim, saw, shear, and punch parts using hand and power tools.
  • Perform minor bending or straightening operations as required.
  • Use clecos, screws, bolts, and clamps to secure parts to jigs or fixtures.
  • Shrink or stretch assemblies to meet specified quality standards.
  • Direct and instruct one or two helpers in accordance with work assignments.
  • Assist higher grade workers as needed and refer questionable conditions to supervision.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions for reading drawings.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, and squares.
  • Experience with various hand and power tools and machines in the area.
  • 3 to 6 months of relevant experience or equivalent SIK experience.
  • Previous experience in Sheet Metal Assembly preferred.
