MV Transportation is seeking a Dispatch Manager to oversee dispatch operations, ensuring effective communication with dispatchers and optimizing system performance to enhance on-time service and minimize customer wait times. The role involves leadership, staffing management, and adherence to safety regulations while promoting a positive work environment and high-quality customer service.

  • Provide direction and maintain two-way communications with all dispatchers.
  • Monitor system performance and make adjustments to maximize on-time performance.
  • Minimize customer wait times for on-call or will-call services.
  • Set a positive example for dispatch agents through consistent support and leadership.
  • Proactively assess staffing needs based on service hours and peak call periods.
  • Define and publish staff schedules according to service demand and collective agreements.
  • Recruit, interview, and select employees in compliance with hiring practices.
  • Recommend personnel for promotion, demotion, or reclassification.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints and incidents in compliance with company policy.
  • Impose discipline according to company policy and collective agreements.
  • Advise senior management on labor relations strategies.
  • Ensure safety regulations are observed and training methods are effective.
  • Organize and coordinate dispatch agent training programs.
  • Prepare, verify, and authorize employee schedules for payroll purposes.
  • Assign work duties to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts.
  • Monitor dispatch performance related to incidents and service disruptions.
  • Provide dispatch coverage during peak service times and employee shortages.
  • Ensure timely communication of passenger cancellations or changes by dispatchers.
  • Manage vehicle pull-outs according to schedule and customer expectations.
  • Maximize wage to revenue percentages and minimize non-revenue and overtime wages.
  • Maintain accurate records and appropriate filing systems.
  • Three (3) years supervisory or management experience in the transportation industry.
  • Substantial experience in the operation phases of a transit organization.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Trapeze and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective collaboration with fellow employees and strong leadership characteristics.
  • Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Flexible hours, including long days and weekends.
  • Ability to recruit and develop staff for reliable service delivery.
  • Knowledge of service area and system parameters.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Paratransit experience preferred.
