About The Position

The Director for Communications and Marketing in the School of Nursing (SON) at UNC Greensboro is responsible for overseeing the school's external communication, marketing strategies, and public relations efforts. This role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive communications plan to enhance the public image of the SON, manage its website and social media presence, and ensure effective outreach to various stakeholders. The Director collaborates closely with the Dean, senior leaders, and other university communication teams to maximize visibility and engagement for the school.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in marketing, publicity, and communications.
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently with high energy.
  • Experience with social media.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree in communications, journalism, or marketing.
  • 3 or more years in a communications or related position.
  • Strong proficiency with design and computer graphics.
  • Ability to creatively use social media for marketing and communication purposes.
  • Experience with managing and updating websites and knowledge of web-based analytics.
  • Additional professional certification in a related area.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and assess SON marketing & communications plans for various constituencies.
  • Create digital and print materials including newsletters, press releases, and alumni publications.
  • Write and distribute press releases, statements, and feature stories.
  • Manage marketing and logistics for special events.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external marketing and media in cooperation with University Communications.
  • Develop and maintain communication and relationships with local, regional, and national nursing organizations.
  • Engage with the Director of Advancement and SON Advisory Board for alumni activities.
  • Manage the budget for communication and marketing activities.
  • Maintain contact information and relevant databases, tracking alumni accomplishments.
