The Clerk III position at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) involves providing clerical support within the Community Care Services Department. This role is essential for assisting Community Services Supervisors and Case Managers in managing documentation, data entry, and communication tasks, ultimately contributing to the welfare of vulnerable citizens in Texas.

  • Provide clerical support for Community Services Supervisor and Case Manager staff.
  • Process mail and date stamp incoming support documents.
  • Perform computer data entry and document management to maintain accurate records.
  • Compile reports and maintain current information in case records and logs.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and distribute messages appropriately.
  • Order supplies and manage inventory for the office.
  • Record and distribute minutes for meetings as necessary.
  • Assist with the intake process and utilize automated systems for information management.
  • Monitor and handle weekly/monthly reports.
  • Complete receptionist duties, including greeting visitors and routing requests.
  • Schedule meeting rooms and assist with special assignments.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  • One year of relevant work experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in a professional customer service environment is required.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of office procedures, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple assignments.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus but not required.
  • Preferred experience in searching records to identify and retrieve information.
  • Preferred experience in establishing and maintaining files and logs.
  • Preferred experience in handling and transporting mail and documents.
