About The Position

The Clerk III - Motor Vehicle position involves performing complex clerical fiscal work under the supervision of the Motor Vehicle Supervisor. Requirements

  • One year related experience.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and function independently under stress.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to operate a calculator, computer, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to express and exchange ideas effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as guidelines and regulations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and compute rates and ratios.

Responsibilities

  • Answer the telephone and address questions and concerns from the public.
  • Communicate with the State regarding taxpayer questions and concerns.
  • Send lien holder notifications.
  • Process antique billing and payments.
  • Process commercial motor vehicle transactions.
  • Process driver's license electronic fund transfers to the state.
  • Process handicapped plates and placards.
  • Process mail-in and online payments for renewals and title work.
  • Process motor vehicle refunds and driver's licenses.
  • Process lien releases and quote tag and tax amounts.
  • Screen citizens for delinquent taxes.
  • Complete required training by the State.
  • Use a computer to enter information into an automated accounting system and verify accuracy.
  • Process information in accordance with state statutes and departmental policies.
  • Utilize information from multiple state and county software systems.
  • Handle, record, and transfer large transactions and quantities of money, balancing accounts and drawers.
  • Maintain and update filing, mailing, database systems, and records.
  • Check and verify input and source documents, run necessary reports, and prepare records.
  • Use software to enter and produce correspondence, reports, tables, and financial schedules.
  • Complete research of items to determine appropriateness.
  • Scan documents into the system.
  • Open, sort, and route incoming mail, email, and faxes; answer correspondence and prepare outgoing mail.
  • Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities and business transactions.
