About The Position

The Behavioral Health Technician at the Strawberry Hill Campus provides essential patient care under supervision, focusing on assisting patients with daily activities and therapeutic measures to enhance comfort and reduce agitation. This role involves monitoring patient safety, facilitating group activities, and ensuring adherence to treatment plans while documenting care in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Requirements

• High School Graduate
• 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training
• Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) certification within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• 1 or more years of previous acute care psychiatric experience
• 2 years of formal education in psychology, counseling, nursing, or a related field

Responsibilities

• Collects data such as vital signs and weights for patient assessment as delegated by the RN.
• Completes patient safety rounds and contraband checks.
• Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills and recommends improvements within unit standards.
• Facilitates or co-facilitates patient goals and exercise groups as assigned.
• Recognizes and reports patient safety concerns or changes in behaviors to the RN.
• Shares care activities among disciplines to maximize patient-centered care.
• Understands and implements General Safety/Falls Prevention Program.
• Utilizes department standards when providing care and follows unit protocols.
• Supervises patients to ensure their basic needs are met.
• Models positive behavior and effective problem-solving techniques.
• Assists with structured group activities and completes required documentation.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly unit environment.
• Provides crisis intervention and initiates emergency response plans when necessary.
• Attends staff meetings and completes required training annually.
• Monitors patient phone calls and visitations as required.
