The Auditor for the United States Trustee Program (USTP) is responsible for conducting financial analysis and investigative work related to bankruptcy cases. This role supports litigation and civil enforcement efforts, performing tasks similar to those of a public accounting firm. The Auditor will work closely with Trial Attorneys to ensure the adequacy and accuracy of financial documentation in complex bankruptcy cases.

  • Apply professional accounting knowledge to complex chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy cases.
  • Work closely with Trial Attorneys to analyze bankruptcy cases and financial documentation for adequacy and accuracy.
  • Perform exams, audits, reviews, and analysis of bankruptcy cases administered by standing and panel trustees.
  • Determine trustees' adequacy, accuracy, and compliance with accounting principles and practices.
  • Provide accounting and auditing services associated with chapter 7 and 11 matters.
  • Ensure the debtor's compliance with required forms and documents.
  • Professional accounting knowledge and understanding of general business operations.
  • Experience with chapter 7 and 11 bankruptcy cases.
  • Ability to analyze financial documentation and provide testimony at trial.
  • Strong auditing and examination skills.
