About The Position

The Assistant Director of Residence Life at Reed College is responsible for overseeing various administrative functions within the Office of Residence Life. This includes supervising professional staff, enhancing the residential experience for students, and responding to emergencies. The role requires collaboration with campus partners to ensure a successful residential program and involves some evening and weekend hours as part of a live-on campus position.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a related field such as student affairs administration, counseling, hospitality management, or business administration.
• 2 years of experience in Residence Life, which can include one year of graduate experience.

• Crisis response and on-call experience, including intervention for mental health crises.
• Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate training.
• Experience in developing rapport with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with House Advisor and Area Coordinator recruitment, including selection and training.
• Support housing operations, including openings, closings, inventory inspections, room changes, and housing assignments.
• Partner with the Director of Residence Life to set and assess departmental goals and programs that support student success.
• Manage the development of on-campus Interest Based Housing Programs in collaboration with campus partners.
• Supervise and coach Residence Life staff.
• Support residential case management, advising residents on personal and academic needs, and College policies.
• Serve in an after-hours on-call capacity in collaboration with a weekly on-call team.
• Participate as a member of the Care Team and other college-affiliated committees.
