About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Trainer at the College of Charleston is responsible for managing and providing coverage for the Patriots Point training facility, focusing primarily on women's soccer. This role involves injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries, as well as the education and counseling of student-athletes. The position requires strong leadership and organizational skills, along with the ability to interact effectively with staff and the medical community.

Requirements

• Master's degree required.
• NATA and CPR/AED certification required.
• Eligibility for South Carolina certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years of certified athletic training experience, preferably at the Division I level.
• Ability to relate to both men's and women's athletic injuries and rehabilitation.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the supervision and education of Athletic Training students and graduate interns.
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with other staff and the medical community.

Responsibilities

• Provides injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries.
• Conducts short and long-term evaluation of athletic injuries and educates student-athletes on injury management.
• Assists in the daily health care of student-athletes and maintains appropriate medical records.
• Serves as head athletic trainer for the women's soccer team and one additional non-traveling sport as assigned.
• Assists in the clinical education of post-graduate athletic trainers.
• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Patriots Point Athletic Training Room, servicing multiple sports.
• Performs administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine.
