About The Position

The Alar Starch Operator is responsible for the safe maintenance and operation of the Alar/Starch system during the second shift at Hood Container Corporation. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety standards, performing daily inspections, and maintaining chemical inventory levels, among other duties. The position requires a commitment to safety and adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and follow detailed instructions on factory masters.
• Mathematical skills to read a measuring tape accurately and calculate figures such as percentages and volume.
• Ability to apply common sense and logical reasoning to carry out instructions in various forms.
• Working knowledge of equipment design, product layouts, and production specifications.

Nice To Haves

• Current Lift Truck License or other appropriate certification to work in designated areas or on certain equipment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain license certification to operate a Clamp and Forklift within the first 6 months of employment.
• Execute and complete fork/clamp truck safety inspection daily and submit maintenance work orders to the shift supervisor.
• Assist with lubrication of the corrugator as needed.
• Complete periodic viscosities checks at the starch station at least 3 times daily.
• Accurately record daily starch checklist.
• Maintain the wastewater treatment facility and clean pump filters properly.
• Monitor and maintain all chemical inventory levels.
• Familiarize with all related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact.
• Assist Maintenance during all scheduled Preventive Maintenance of the Corrugator.
• Comply with all local, state, and federal policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping standards.
