About The Position

The Accountant position at a Nonprofit Accounting Firm in North Haledon, NJ, is a full-time, hybrid role focused on providing customized bookkeeping and financial management services to small to mid-sized nonprofit organizations. The role supports the Accounting Manager and involves managing various accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and assisting clients with financial reporting and audits.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in accounting/finance required (non-profit accounting preferred).
• Organized work-style with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Experience working with an accounting firm/client service experience.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• QuickBooks Online strongly preferred.
• Bill.com preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and/or manage payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Ensure accounts receivable and accounts payable are current (less than 90 days).
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
• Review and post-investment accounts.
• Review all uncleared checks and deposits for items over 120 days.
• Analyze and prepare financial statements monthly for the Accounting Manager's/Director's review.
• Manage annual audits and ensure all required schedules are completed timely.
• Assist clients with the preparation of Form 990, 1099's, and other benefit, tax, and regulatory schedules.
• Perform ad-hoc accounting tasks on an as-needed basis.
