About The Position

As a Spacecraft Systems Engineering Intern, you will be supporting the technical execution for programs, as well as supporting teams in the development of spacecraft systems serving a range of missions and customers. This includes assisting the monitoring and guiding of requirements definition, spacecraft design, procurement and fabrication, integration and test, and verification and validation of the overall space vehicle system. You will interact with subsystem and product engineers, manufacturing and test personnel, and program management. You will engage with the technical elements of the space vehicle system. Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering or other relevant engineering or science discipline
  • Demonstrated familiarity with space vehicle systems and systems engineering principles
  • Demonstrated familiarity with power, mass, and other system budgets
  • Demonstrated familiarity with requirements analysis and flow-down
  • Demonstrated familiarity with design verification and validation processes
  • Demonstrated familiarity with configuration management
  • Demonstrated familiarity with hardware integration and test processes
  • These positions must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Additionally, some positions may require the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Applicants MUST be U.S. citizens and eligible for a security clearance.
  • Additionally, applicants must be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting spacecraft systems engineering, including performing interface management and validation, requirements verification and validation, support to integration and test operations, anomaly resolution, risk management, and schedule execution
  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to assist in the planning, design, development and verification of a lifecycle balanced solution for space systems
  • Understand spacecraft subsystems functions and interfaces. Assist in the development of integrated spacecraft system designs and solutions
  • Coordinate and communicate with subsystem engineering teams to ensure system execution
  • Apply model-based systems engineering techniques for the definition of the spacecraft system
  • Participate in software integration and test activities to ensure mission functionality prior to deployment into operations
  • Perform tasks to analyze technical data, assist in the verification of specific systems configurations in accordance with defined constraints and operational requirements
  • Assists in the resolution of cross-functional technical issues
