About The Position

Produce, analyze, and maintain the electronic floor plans and associated data for over 6 million square feet of building space. Working with units across the institution, coordinate the collection/maintenance of space data for the university’s integrated workplace management system ( IWMS ) database, and provide reports and trends for those units using that data. Develop and document the necessary processes to accomplish this, including exports of BIM / CAD files to the IWMS database for mission critical facilities functions. Review and update, as needed, the campus space standards. Oversee and modify room numbering and provide room signage schedules for construction projects. Assist in the review, monitoring, indexing, and recording of all drawings and manuals submitted from project management, consultants and sub-contractors. Ensure quality control of all electronic BIM and CAD deliverables for adherence to the University Planning, Design and Construction Guidelines. Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Architectural/Building Trades/ BIM / CAD or a closely related field
  • 3 years of experience in space management, architectural building modeling/computer drafting
  • Computer skills including the ability to perform computer assisted drafting/ building modeling involving a high degree of technical skill in the preparation of floor plan drawings/building models and database, word processing and/or spreadsheet applications as determined by the department.
  • Work organizational skills.
  • Sound decision making and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, design consultants, builders, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and develop BIM / CAD /Space data management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field such as environmental design, architecture, interior design
  • Familiarity with building floor plan conventions and standards.
  • Ability to deal with wide range of complex professional, technical and project related tasks where frequent independent interpretation and decision making is necessary.
  • Experience with asset management software (AssetWorks/AimCAD, FAMIS / FAMISCAD , Archibus, etc.).
  • Experience in Geographic Information Systems ( GIS ) and/or 3D modeling software other than the Autodesk Suite, such as SketchUp, adobe products such as Illustrator & Photoshop
  • Experience in a college/university setting, especially as it relates to space.
  • Experience with national and international space standards such as FICM and construction hand over standards like COBie
