About The Position

Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Space Technician - 1st Shift to join our team in Bethel, CT! The core hours are 7 am - 3:30 pm. The hourly range for this position is $27-$30 per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. What you’ll do: As Space Technician b, you will build, assemble, inspect, and test space and aerospace hardware by following detailed procedures, drawings, and work instructions. You will operate specialized production and test equipment and perform Dye Penetrant (Dye Pen) inspections, leak testing, and ATP, while accurately documenting all work in manufacturing systems. In this role, you will: Perform assembly, build, and test operations on space and aerospace hardware in accordance with approved procedures, drawings, and work instructions including handling of sensitive components and customer-owned hardware. Set up and operate specialized equipment such as, ovens, test stands, leak test systems, pressure stands, and other production or test fixtures. Perform solder process in accordance with approved procedures, and J-STD, including pre-cleaning, inspection, and post-cleaning requirements. Follow all quality, safety, EHS, and housekeeping standards, including proper use of PPE and adherence to clean work area practices. Accurately document work performed in manufacturing systems, routers, travelers, and inspection records. Identify and escalate process issues, equipment concerns, or inspection findings that could impact safety, quality, or schedule. Maintain tools, fixtures, and inspection equipment in proper working conditions and report any issues promptly. Support schedule recovery efforts, including overtime and weekend work, as required to meet program commitments. Comply with ITAR, customer, and regulatory requirements applicable to space and defense programs. Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience in a related area of responsibility required.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • Strong hands‑on skills in precision assembly, inspection, and testing of aerospace hardware with the ability to follow detailed procedures, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Ability to solder and use testing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document work.
  • Effective communication, safety awareness, proper use of PPE, and the ability to support troubleshooting, rework, and schedule recovery efforts in an ITAR‑controlled environment are essential.
