About The Position

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to join a Federal Program in El Segundo, CA. Responsibilities of the Space Systems Engineer include: Deliver systems engineering support throughout the full program lifecycle-from concept development through operational deployment. Provide technical leadership and oversight for the development of electronic components, including design, manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing, production, and sustainment of guidance systems. Define and refine operational concepts, system requirements, and architectural designs; manage system architecture evolution, requirements decomposition, verification strategies, and risk mitigation plans. Maintain and manage the program's technical baseline through effective configuration management practices. Lead risk management activities, including identifying, analyzing, and mitigating program risks through structured processes and proactive measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, Master's degree preferred
  • 9+ years of experience in systems engineering and integration, including:
  • Leading hardware integration efforts
  • Managing cost, schedule, and technical performance for complex systems
  • Supporting the development and/or production of electronic subsystems
  • Identifying and mitigating technical and programmatic risks
  • Active security clearance with a current Tier 5 (T5) or Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), SCI eligibility, and enrollment in the Continuous Evaluation program (if applicable).
  • Willingness to be nominated for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP), and to undergo a polygraph examination.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) are preferred
  • Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
