We are seeking a versatile and highly motivated Space Systems Engineer/Operations professional to support a critical Department of Defense (DoD) initiative. This role involves system design, operations planning, and mission execution for advanced space systems. The successful candidate will ensure the operational readiness, performance, and long-term sustainment of spacecraft, ground systems, and integrated mission operations, contributing to the success of this national security program. Golden Dome is a national-level, whole-of-nation initiative in which you will play a critical role in advancing next-generation homeland defense capabilities. If you are seeking a fast-paced position focused on developing innovative software for the Space-Based Interceptor mission, this opportunity is designed for you.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and integrate space systems, including spacecraft payloads, ground systems, and communication architectures.
  • Ensure system designs align with mission objectives while adhering to DoD requirements and standards.
  • Support systems engineering processes, including requirements definition, risk analysis, and interface development.
  • Plan and execute mission operations for space systems, including spacecraft deployment, telemetry analysis, and maneuvering.
  • Monitor real-time system performance during operations and provide technical oversight for anomaly resolution.
  • Perform pre-mission readiness activities, including simulations, rehearsals, and ground system validation.
  • Participate in the integration and testing phases of spacecraft and ground components, ensuring readiness for operational deployment.
  • Support end-to-end testing of systems, including functional, environmental, and operational validation.
  • Develop and maintain operational plans, procedures, and workflows to ensure mission continuity.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for operational anomalies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Optimize system performance and reliability during mission execution and sustainment phases.
  • Coordinate with program managers, technical teams, DoD stakeholders, and external contractors to achieve mission-specific objectives.
  • Act as the liaison between systems engineers and operations teams to ensure seamless communication during mission phases.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including procedures, mission logs, system evaluations, and performance reports.
  • Deliver briefings and updates to program leadership, engineering teams, and DoD stakeholders.
  • 10+ years of experience in space systems engineering and/or mission operations, ideally within a DoD or aerospace environment.
  • Hands-on experience in spacecraft systems design, testing, or operations.
  • Proficiency in tools used for mission planning, system monitoring, and data analysis (e.g., STK, MATLAB, LabVIEW).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex technical challenges during mission operations.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with space system requirements, including orbital mechanics, payload integration, ground systems, and space environment considerations.
  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or similar certification.
  • Knowledge of advanced operational technologies, including autonomous systems and machine learning applications for space operations.
  • Must have an Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
  • 5 years' prior experience for access to Special Access Program Information (SAP), or Controlled Access Program (CAP); must have 1 year in the last 5 years.
