About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Space Software Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of robust software architectures for space-based interceptor systems to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama. Contract Overview: Golden Dome is a national-level, whole-of-nation initiative in which you will play a critical role in advancing next-generation homeland defense capabilities. Requirements

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 15 years’ related experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Required Security Clearance: Must have an Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility 5 years’ prior experience for access to Special Access Program Information (SAP), or Controlled Access Program (CAP); must have 1 year in the last 5 years.
  • Technical Skills: 15 years of experience in software engineering with an emphasis on space systems or defense applications. Proven track record in architecting software for embedded real-time systems and mission-critical applications. Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink. Strong knowledge of software development life cycles, including Agile methodologies. Familiarity with space system operations, including orbital mechanics, GNC algorithms, and payload software. Experience with middleware frameworks (e.g., DDS, RTPS) and real-time operating systems (RTOS).

Responsibilities

  • Architectural Design: Develop software architectures for space-based interceptor systems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability in real-time environments. Define and document system-level software design and interface requirements across multiple subsystems.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance to software engineering teams during design, development, testing, and integration phases. Support trade studies to assess software design options and recommend optimal solutions.
  • Integration: Coordinate the integration and testing of embedded, real-time software with space-based hardware systems. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, systems engineers, and mission planners.
  • Modeling and Simulation: Develop and refine algorithms, including guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), for space-based interceptors. Enable system-level simulations to validate performance against mission requirements.
  • Requirements Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of system requirements and translate them into software specifications. Ensure compliance with DoD standards, cybersecurity protocols, and best practices for space systems.
  • R&D Contribution: Lead efforts to incorporate emerging technologies, such as AI/ML and advanced autonomy, into space interceptor software systems. Support innovation initiatives by staying updated on industry trends, including space systems software engineering technologies.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical documentation, including system design artifacts, software configuration files, and test reports. Present technical reviews and updates to stakeholders, customers, and senior leadership.
