General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking a Systems Engineer to analyze, design, develop, and test GDMS systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety, and other requirements in the total engineering effort. The role involves responsibilities such as requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation, and interface definition studies of system elements. The systems typically include switching/routing functionality implemented in hardware and software/firmware for space-based systems. Candidates with experience in network design, including physical and logical interfaces, are highly preferred. The position is fully on-site at the Scottsdale, AZ location.

  • Analyze, design, develop, and test GDMS systems.
  • Ensure integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, and safety requirements.
  • Conduct requirements analysis, definition, and management.
  • Perform functional and performance analysis, system design, and trade studies.
  • Conduct systems integration and test (verification), validation, and interface definition studies.
  • Formulate operational concepts and perform mission, functional, cost-benefit, and risk analysis.
  • Develop signal processing architecture and overall system architecture.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
  • 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Agile experience preferred.
  • Experience in Python scripting.
  • Experience with SmallSats and CubeSats development.
  • Experience in computer networking protocols and specifically Switch and Router Networking solutions.
  • High-speed networking solutions, including YANG network data model.
  • Network device routing and forwarding testing.
  • Embedded systems hardware architecture, processor architecture, and switch/router OS.
  • Cryptography and security experience (i.e. CISSP or similar security certifications).
  • Basic familiarity of Cross Domain Solutions, including Black/Red networking.
  • TRL/MRL experience, especially as it relates to space environments.
  • Experience with Agile hardware, software, or firmware development.
  • Experience with Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering.
