About The Position

The position involves assembling parts according to process sheet/print instructions and performing various electrical, mechanical, and magnetic testing as required. The role requires the ability to operate high temperature ovens and furnaces, and to pass a Visual Acuity Exam. The employee will assist with prototype builds, perform inventory counts, and work on improving efficiency and quality of products. The position also includes responsibilities such as crosstraining other employees, completing labor tracking documentation, and troubleshooting problems. The employee must utilize proper PPE and follow safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • 1 year manufacturing experience.
  • Intermediate understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation.
  • Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools (crimpers, soldering iron, wire strippers, brazing equipment, etc.) and measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, rulers, etc.).
  • Ability and willingness to operate high temperature ovens and furnaces.
  • Ability and willingness to pass Visual Acuity Exam as necessary.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Solder, Braze, and Electro-Static discharge certification as required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Assembly, solder experience and/or electronics manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in a self-directed teaming environment.
  • Familiarity with 5S & lean manufacturing knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts according to process sheet/print instructions.
  • Perform electrical, mechanical, magnetic testing as required (i.e. - dielectric, meggar, hipot, etc.).
  • Perform in-process hi-pot testing; Perform basic set up of fixtures.
  • Perform vapor blasting as required; Perform inventory counts and verification.
  • Assist with proto-type or first time builds with guidance from higher level employees.
  • Assist Engineering and/or Team in development and/or improvement of layout procedures and process sheets.
  • Review expiration date of materials to ensure all are current.
  • Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products; Good housekeeping skills.
  • Possess inspection stamp as required; Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
  • Crosstrain other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience.
  • Compliantly complete all written and/or electronic labor tracking documentation.
  • Perform basic Oracle transactions as required.
  • Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach.
  • Keep all shift operators informed on special problems involving operation or set up.
  • Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of new processes and/or issues.
  • Perform troubleshooting responsibilities.
  • Participate in and support team initiatives.
  • Understand and abide by the GE Behaviors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
