The SOX Analyst at Associated Bank is responsible for assisting the Controller group in maintaining and monitoring compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to document processes, mitigate risks, advocate for strong controls, and enhance SOX compliance and financial reporting accuracy. The analyst will also perform risk assessments, document financial processes, and coordinate SOX testing with internal and external auditors.

  • Assist the Controller group in maintaining and monitoring SOX compliance efforts.
  • Document processes and proactively mitigate risks related to financial reporting.
  • Advocate for the design of strong internal controls and facilitate remediation of control gaps.
  • Perform overall risk assessments of the organization, including financial statement captions and general ledger accounts.
  • Document key financial processes and related financial statement risks, including updating process narratives and flowcharts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create new processes and propose improvements to strengthen the internal control environment.
  • Maintain the completeness and accuracy of report matrices and perform testing of systematic reports utilized by the Controller group.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of risk and control matrices for all controls and processes within the Controller Group.
  • Coordinate SOX testing between Finance, Internal Audit, and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Assess identified control deficiencies and support remediation efforts, including documentation and development of remediation plans.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience with Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements, COSO Framework, and internal control concepts.
  • 1-3 years of public accounting experience working on public company engagements.
