About The Position

Supervise 1,200+ head sow farm and related personnel, including day-to-day tasks of the farm, ensuring production targets are met, and supervising farm employees. Direct the breeding and raising of swine using recognized breeding practices. Supervise swine examinations to identify diseases. Ensure the care and conditioning of sows on the farm. Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are in good working condition. Meet daily and weekly production targets. Collect and record production data. Complete and submit production analysis reports in a timely manner. Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs. Monitor breeding and grading to ensure adherence to safety regulations or standards. Create and manage employee work schedules. Maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations, and provide constructive and timely feedback to employees. Supervises 3-4 farm hands. No hire/fire authority.

Requirements

  • Two years of related swine experience
  • Experience in swine farm management of at least 1200 head required
  • Must have experience in all processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing
  • Must have experience following detailed standard operating procedures
  • Experience required managing four or more animal caretakers on a sow farm
  • Must have good communication skills in English
