The Southwest Regional Facilities Design Leader is a key leader of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Facilities Design Business Class. The O&M Facilities Design staff provide facility programming, planning, functional design and equipment industrial design as part of multi-discipline design teams. The Southwest Regional Facilities Design Leader must demonstrate an ability to both manage regional and local staff and to be a team player within a firm that is a globally recognized leader in the field. This individual is ultimately responsible for overall project and regional resource management, including budget and schedule control, communications, and client, consultant, and vendor relations for work delivered by O&M Facilities Design staff on projects. This individual oversees, reviews, and approves all phases of facility related projects from start to finish and often leads cross-functional teams across multiple time zones. The primary duties of this position vary but are generally to provide regional leadership, project management, marketing, and mentorship to a team of facility design specialists, engineers and architects supporting the growth of the O&M Facilities Design team within a region and for the business class in general. Staff management and supervision experience is a plus as this position will require supervision of multiple employees. Travel to client sites and other HDR offices is required. O&M Facilities Design Business Class is a professional services team supporting HDR’s Transportation Business Group. The primary focus of this business class is to provide professional services, specialized facility related design services and to support delivery projects related to operations and maintenance facilities and other similar or related facility types in all market sectors within HDR. A key focus of the Business Class is the public transit sector, Experience within the public transit sector is a plus. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • 10 years experience in related field
  • Maintains a professional or Engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of design plan development
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Licensure in Architecture and/or Engineering
  • LEED Accreditation, USGBC or sustainability certification/credentials
  • Experience with client relationship cultivation
  • 15 years of relevant planning or design experience and 5 years of management experience
  • Active participation in relevant professional organizations (e.g. APTA, AREMA, etc.)
  • Collaborative mindset that encourages growth and success across multiple business groups
