About The Position

This role provides an exciting opportunity to create innovative, functional, and inspiring educational environments for K-12 clients. The Southeast Interior Designer will collaborate closely with sales, instructional design specialists, and project managers to develop furniture layouts and design solutions that align with best practices and client needs. Working remotely within the Southeast region, this position combines creative design expertise with technical proficiency in 2D and 3D software, while managing budgets, timelines, and product specifications. The role requires strong collaboration with internal teams and client-facing presentation skills. It is ideal for a detail-oriented, creative professional who is passionate about learning environments, enjoys problem-solving, and is committed to delivering high-quality design solutions. Travel to client sites and training sessions is expected, ensuring hands-on involvement throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of interior design experience, preferably in educational or similar environments
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Interior Design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, CET, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience generating drawings, specifying furniture, and working with architects or trades
  • Strong presentation skills for client and internal meetings
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and understanding of design principles
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ethical and professional standards aligned with company values
  • Must reside in the Southeast region specified (Richmond, VA; Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Raleigh, NC; Charleston, WV)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project programming meetings to gather client requirements and define project scope
  • Develop conceptual design solutions that reflect educational needs and Meteor Design Principles
  • Create and present visual presentations, including 2D drawings, 3D renderings, and furniture specifications
  • Specify furniture, finishes, and custom items across multiple manufacturers, adhering to budget and timeline constraints
  • Collaborate with internal Studio team members to review specifications and develop installation documents
  • Apply knowledge of ADA, Life Safety, Fire, and Electrical codes to ensure compliant design solutions
  • Stay current on K-12 environment trends, products, and educational design best practices
  • Attend client meetings, company events, and regional training as needed
