The Optimist brings a menu of casual, wood-fired fare to Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood, transporting landlocked Tennesseans coast side to experience fresh, sustainably sourced seafood. The Optimist is looking for an enthusiastic Sous Chef to come aboard! The Sous Chef manages the hourly, back-of-house staff and assists in the day-to-day operations of all areas of the kitchen including production, prep, special and private events, stewarding, purchasing and receiving. He/she will have a strong understanding and knowledge of various cooking methods and preparation techniques, ensuring all food is properly prepared and presented to guests in a timely manner. The Sous Chef will be able to effectively and professionally lead the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef. The ideal candidate is a natural leader with the drive and ability to maintain a cohesive team, while efficiently delegating and working calmly under pressure.
