Join Saint Therese and be a part of making a difference! We are looking for an experienced full-time Sous Chef to bring their culinary talents to Saint Therese - IHM Senior Living Community. We provide a home for seniors who want to live in a place that has the full continuum of care - meaning residents can move into independent living and then as their care needs evolve, they can move to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or stay in our short- term rehab center. We are a five-star facility licensed by Medicare and Medicaid and staffed by people who have the experience and passion to provide exceptional care. Position available includes working every other weekend and every other holiday from 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. (10 shifts per two week pay period) The Sous Chef position is responsible for Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and staff management. Ensure all food is prepared according to recipes and standards for quality and presentation. Participate in menu planning, including seasonal changes and special events. Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste. Supervise kitchen staff, providing training and support to ensure efficient workflow. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen in compliance with health regulations. Collaborate with catering teams for special events, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality meals. Handle food safely and adhere to proper food handling procedures.

Requirements

  • Culinary degree or certification (preferred but not required with equivalent experience).
  • Background in nutrition or specialized diets (mechanical, pureed, low-sodium, diabetic diets etc.).
  • Requirement of a minimum of 1-3 years of professional culinary experience -- assisted living dining, high-end hospitality, or open-kitchen concepts.
  • Experience working in high-pressure environments while maintaining quality and presentation.
  • Strong knowledge of food service management principles, including inventory control and menu planning.
  • Excellent skills in food handling and preparation techniques.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate kitchen staff effectively.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for culinary arts and catering services.
  • Strong communication skills to facilitate teamwork within the kitchen environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to deta

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong understanding of food safety protocols and kitchen sanitation.

  • Capable of adjusting menus based on ingredient availability and client preferences.
  • Keeps a well-maintained, organized, and hygienic workspace at all times.
  • Can work independently, meet deadlines, and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • When working with support staff, must be able to delegate effectively while maintaining a positive team dynamic by working along with the nursing staff.
  • Willingness to adjust to flexible hours based on client needs.
